I am excited to go back to browse the downtown shops and try out the restaurants. I am glad to have discovered the Village of Milford with its quaint downtown and large beautiful homes. Live music was available both in the beer tent and the LaFontaine Family Amphitheater. Additionally, the large Central Park Beer Tent was hopping with activity. The Milford Memories Summer Festival also featured on site radio performances, a blind canoe race, assorted sporting events and even a rock climbing wall that many kids were enjoying. I also really like his photo “ US 41 Tunnel of Trees” that is taken near Copper Harbor. When looking through Neil Weaver Photography’s 2016 calendar, I discovered a new destination in the UP, Copper Harbor, to add to my list of places to see. His photos always inspire me to want to visit more places in the Mitten. My favorite photographer of Michigan landscapes, Neil Weaver, had a booth at this festival again. ![]() I learned The Painted Garden has a studio in downtown Milford that you can also check out besides viewing their products on the website or assorted art fairs. The Painted Garden also paints custom dog pictures on their tiles so you can have one made featuring your favorite pooch. This slate tile brings charm to my front walkway and it is weather proof allowing it to remain outdoors in all seasons. My main treasure purchased was a “Smitten with the Mitten” tile for my garden by The Painted Garden. I highly recommend this refreshment and if you like frozen drinks and apple cider, you won’t be disappointed. Average number of exempt from jury artists who are invited to participate in the event: 0. Average number of artists selected from the jury to participate in the event: 350. I tried an apple cider slushie for the first time and it was really tasty. Average number of applications submitted each year: 500. This event was not limited to only juried artists so more craft displays appeared available.Ī food vendor section filled with fair food such as pizza, corn dogs, funnel cake, elephant ears and more was available. ![]() There were over 300 artisan booths across the cute downtown featuring jewelry, pottery, clothing, photography, hand blown glass, metal, arts and crafts. The art show was bigger than it looked and probably encompassed a couple miles. The event had shuttle parking available, however we did not have trouble finding a spot close to downtown to park for free for the day. The Milford Memories Summer Festival, also referred to as Art in the Village, event was in progress. ![]() Visited the Village of Milford for the first time on Saturday August 8th.
